How to cancel Onstar

Start with the cancellation link above. The quickest sequence is 1) Open My Plans; 2) Cancel the plan; 3) Handle a sold vehicle; 4) Confirm the service end; 5) Check the Onstar renewal before confirming; 6) Record when Onstar access ends. Stay in the flow until you see an end date or receive written confirmation.

Gather the account holder’s name, account number, billing email or service address, and the date you want service to end. Then check your statement for the name of the company collecting payment. Deleting the Guardian app does not cancel service. Automatic Crash Response and Emergency Services stop when service ends.

OnStar says you may cancel at any time. Services continue through the end of the billing period, then OnStar safety and emergency services shut off. Give yourself time before the cutoff, save the end date shown on screen, and check the next statement for any charge already in progress.

Compare the new charge with the effective date on your confirmation. Then contact Onstar with a short timeline showing the request, confirmation, promised end date, and charge. Ask for a written correction and any refund due. If that goes nowhere, send the same records to your payment provider and ask how long you have to dispute the charge.
